Class Policies

Class Policies, Expectations & Procedures

Mr. Hoover
Grade 7 Social Studies

1) Students are expected to behave in a manner that is courteous and respectful to all teachers and classmates.

2) Students are responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly classroom.

3) Students are to arrive to class on time.

4) Students are to come to class prepared each day. This means to have pens, pencils, and social studies notebook.

30% – Homework, Class participation, Effort and Attitude

70% – Quizzes, Tests, and Projects

Homework will be assigned daily to reinforce concepts introduced in class. It is important that you complete your homework assignments each day.  Students having difficulty completing homework on time will be asked to stay after school to get caught up.

1) EXTRA HELP: I am available for extra help every B day 8th period, as well as Mondays and Wednesdays after school. If you would like individual extra help, you just need to let me know ahead of time. I will schedule extra help sessions prior to tests and quizzes. Extra help will be mandatory for students with homework or notebook difficulties.

2) *SOCIAL STUDIES NOTEBOOK: All students must have a three-ring binder in which to keep all your social studies papers. (Please see me if this is a problem.)  If you would like to keep your social studies papers in the same notebook with another subject (i.e. a “morning classes binder” or an “afternoon classes binder”) that’s fine; just be aware that this notebook will be collected and graded periodically.

3) ABSENCE: You are responsible for finding out what you’ve missed when you are absent. It is your responsibility (one of our school’s core values) to update your notebook with a classmate and/or with our class table of contents, posted on the front board. Extra class handouts are located in the box on the front corner of my desk, and are available to take at any time.

The information on this sheet is intended to help you have a successful year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to talk with me. I’m here to help you.
